Due to growing concerns regarding COVID-19, we have instituted new protocols at the Eye Care Center of Kauai. In order to reduce the risk of exposure to our staff and patients, we are following guidelines recommended by the CDC and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Upon arrival, we will check your temperature. You will also be asked a series of questions to determine your potential recent exposure to coronavirus. If you have a temperature over 100.4 degrees or have a cough or shortness of breath, we will ask you to reschedule your non-urgent appointment until you are asymptomatic or have quarantined for two weeks. Alternatively, you can consider rescheduling your non-urgent appointment as a telehealth videoconference from the comforts of your home. If it is an urgent issue, the doctor will be consulted and necessary arrangements will be made.
If you or someone in your household has travelled off-island within 7 days prior to your appointment, we would ask that you reschedule your non-urgent appointment.
Hand sanitizer will be available so that you may disinfect your hands upon entering our clinic. All patients are required to wear a face mask or face shield while in our office. While children under the age of 5 are technically exempt from the face mask requirement, they are still encouraged to wear one if possible. To ensure social distancing, only the scheduled patients will be allowed into our office. Exceptions will be made for our pediatric patients, and only one parent will be allowed per patient under 18. We will also make exceptions for our elderly patients requiring special assistance.
Thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times. The Eye Care Center of Kauai thanks you for your loyal patronage. Stay healthy and safe!
